Greetings to all:
I stopped at Palmer Point on the way home from the Roanoke River Rails to
Trail Board meeting today at South Hill. I relocated the Pacific Loon after
an hour of looking. There was a number of RN Grebes about 18 around the
point along with Horned Grebes and RB Mergansers as well. Also had an
Osprey.
I also stopped at Dick Cross WMA where I found N. Shovelers, RN Ducks and
Coots at Clyde's Pond along with Tree Swallows and two Wilson's Snipes were
flying around as well.
At the larger pond below the dog kennels I found a total number of 190 RN
Ducks and about 80 Tree Swallows.
But the best find of the day was a Gray Fox seen in a field as I drove into
the WMA. I was able to get some pictures and will upload into Flickr
tomorrow and send link.
