There was a Philadelphia Vireo this morning along Accotink Stream Valley
Park, which runs north/north-west out of Wakefield Park, Annandale, Fairfax
County. Also of note was a 'late' Purple Finch female.
Also encountered: several Great Crested Flycatchers, as well as an Acadian
Flycatcher, a Phoebe and a pair of Eastern Kingbirds; several Scarlet
Tanagers (all males); two Swainson's and a couple of Wood Thrushes (the
latter only heard); Parula, Yellow-rumped, Common Yellowthroat, Blackpoll,
Chestnut-sided, Black-throated Green, Canada, Bay-breasted, Cape May and
Northern Waterthrush warblers; and a singing male (and a singing
immature-plumaged male) Orchard Oriole. No sign of any cuckoos, though.
As I write this, a Veery just walked along a fallen log in my garden.
