I was At Chincoteague Island (Tom’s Cove) on November 15 and photographed 8
terms that look like they could be White-winged Terns but I don’t know for
sure. It will be a few days before I can get the photos processed and posted.
These terms had black eye patches like a Forster’s Tern, but also had a gray
cap and a gray nape, red legs, black bill, short tail with a white rump patch.
I don’t know what else they could be. But I’m not an expert on coastal species.
