I've been watching a pair of adult Bald Eagles in Ft. Hunt Park, Alexandria.
On some mornings, one of them can be seen either perched on a snag high
above the middle of the park, and on other mornings, one or both birds are
down by Sheridan's Point (the swampy area on the Potomac River, near the
park), perched above the Scaups, Ringnecks, and Redheads. This morning,
driving north on the Parkway past the exit for Ft Hunt Park, I noticed one
of the birds perched near a very large new nest, approximately 200 yards
south of the Ft Hunt Park maintenance buildings. I drove through the park
to try to find the nest, but apparently the nest can be seen only from the
parkway, driving north.
