A cold, grey morning was the setting for over 25 birders on this Martin Luther
King Holiday Huntley Meadows Monday Morning Birdwalk. We identified 40
species, with some unusual varieties heading the list: A Greater White-fronted
Goose mixed in with hundreds of Canada Geese, a Mallard X American Black Duck
Hybrid which has been mixed in with other Mallards for a few weeks, and 3
American tree Sparrows - unusual mostly for the quantity headed the list, with
four Bald Eagles of varying age soaring overhead. Our thanks to regular
Monday Morning birders Barbara and Bob Pringle for hosting our customary apres
birding breakfast at their delightful Old Town home.
