I made a quick stop at Newport News Park during lunchtime yesterday to
check for prothonotary warblers. I did find one hanging out between two of
the nesting boxes, but there was no sign of activity in the boxes. However,
I was treated to a concentration of 12 wood ducks. Despite the recent
rain, the water level was low and probably resulted in a greater exposure of
food.
