The red crossbills continue to come. Right now they are "falling" out of
the sky onto the platform feeder of sunflower seeds. Every little bit they
are flying off for a few minutes and then coming back. It is as though only
a certain number of birds is allowed at one time and when that threshold
comes, they all go. My son counted 15 red crossbills, plus the pine
siskins, gold finches, cardinal, and chipping sparrow. Three rose-breasted
grosbeaks have also been coming today.
As usual, the blue jays remain as one of the causes for the sudden
departures from the feeder.
