Hello all,

What a great day for a walk along the Potomac River at Riverbend Park, Fairfax County. The previously reported AMERICAN COOTS, in the hundreds, PIED BILLED GREBES, DOUBLE CRESTED CORMORANTS, GREAT BLUE HERONS, MALLARDS were joined by 10 or so RING NECKED DUCKS, and three (two female and one male) BUFFLEHEADS. The Buffleheads were loafing just down river from the visitor center. While we were there, another 75 or so CANADA GEESE flew down the river to join the other Canada Geese present along the far shore.

A HAIRY WOODPECKER was another nice find among the land birds.

Looks like this is a good weekend to be out and about birding.

Good birding to all,
Jay and Carol Hadlock
