I walked with a couple of friends along the Potomac at Riverbend Park for a
couple of hours this afternoon. Initially we found almost nothing upriver
from the visitor center. However, between the visitor center and about
halfway down to. Conn Island, we found more ducks: a really large group of
Bufflehead probably 75 or more; five Common Mergansers flying upstream; four
Ruddy ducks; two Pied-billed grebes; three Black Ducks; very nice looks at
two handsome, male, Hooded Mergansers; and two adult Bald Eagles soaring in the
beautiful afternoon sun over the Maryland shore.
I'm still very interested in what this snap a very cold weather we're going
to have next week could bring us. Stay tuned .
