Hello all,
After reading various reports of sightings of Lapland Longspur, Horned Lark,
and other species in the Remington, VA area, we took a road trip today.
We found Horned Lark--at least 200 hundred; Lapland Longspur--at least 10
(probably more) in with the Horned Larks and, depending if they were in open
fields or harvested corn fields, fairly easy to find; a few American Pipit; at
least one Savannah Sparrow; and 15 Eastern Meadow Lark.
We found them at the Woodward Turf Farm, and adjoining fields, on either side
of Route 654, Norman's Ford Road, south of Remington.
Good birding to all,
Jay and Carol Hadlock
Herndon, VA
