Observation start time: 08:00:00
Observation end   time: 13:30:00
Total observation time: 5.5 hours

Official Counter:        Brenda Tekin

Observers:        Allen Larner, Janet Paisley

Visitors:
A few folks ventured up to the mountain top today.  Mark Kosiewski, Lois
McKim, Cindy and Gerry Andrews of Richmond, Crista Cabe, Janet Paisley,
Debbie Smith, Allen Larner and Nelson Lewis.

Weather:
Overall, a pleasant late summer day.   Cloudless bright blue sky early
morning with slowly increasing clouds by mid-day then slacking off by top
of 1pm EST.  Within 30 minutes darker threatening clouds were moving in
from the W to SW.  Rain squalls to the north by 2pm and storms moving into
the immediate area by 3pm with advancing cold front.   Wind was
predominantly out of the WNW most of the day, diminishing to out of the
west before approaching storms.

Raptor Observations:
Was hopeful with decent winds but it was not to be.  The birds had other
plans for the day.

First bird, a high sailing Osprey at 8:37, would be the only bird for the
first 2 hours.   3rd hour only 3 birds....

Only one Bald Eagle, an adult at 10:50am. EST.   Nelson Lewis was on hand
during the last 30 minutes and spotted the day's second high sailing Osprey
and one low circling Broad-wing out to the east.

Non-raptor Observations:
Pretty slim pick'ns today.  There was one very large flock of over 900
Common Grackle.  Only 29 Chimney Swift and one Barn Swallow.  Surprisingly,
no Tree Swallow.  Two adult Red-headed Woodpeckers, 11 Ruby-throated
Hummingbirds, one Common Nighthawk and one Tennessee Warbler spotted by
Allen Larner.

Predictions:
Cooler
