Weather:
Beautiful day with very strong (50-60km/hr) and gusty WNW winds. 7.1-8.6C
temp. Partly cloudy early and mostly cloudy after 2pm. Terrific clouds
helped searching for those high raptors. Very clear visibility. Lots of
snow showers throughout the day could be viewed out the the west in the
Allegheny Mountains.
Raptor Observations:
A fun Bald Eagle day with many passing through in groups: 8:40 (3rd-YR),
9:25 (three AD), 10:46 (1st-YR, two 2nd-YR), 12:03 (two AD, 2nd-YR,
3rd-YR), 12:20 (AD), 12:31 (AD), 12:40 (4th-YR), 12:53 (2nd-YR), 1:34 (AD,
2nd-YR, 4th-YR), 2:34 (two AD), 3:30 (AD). Adult Northern Goshawk at 11:26.
First raptor 8:20am RT. Last raptor 3:50pm Merlin.
Non-raptor Observations:
We had some fun non-raptors today starting off with a Pine Warbler at
8:30am. 1 Snow Goose. 2 Greater White-fronted Goose, 5 Wood Duck, 123 DC
Cormorant (3 separate flocks), 6 Raven, 133 Cedar Waxwing, 25 Red-winged
Blackbird.
