Visitors:
Matt Gingerich (Linville, VA) stopped by for a bit. Matt was the person who
reported seeing over 2,500 Broad-winged Hawks at Reddish Knob this past
September 23 over a 2-hour period. Too bad you left before the Golden Eagle
flew by today Matt!
Weather:
Sunny with no clouds (but lots of jet contrails). Temperature range 0-4.5C.
Mild East winds. Very clear visibility.
Raptor Observations:
Constant trickle of raptors each hour of the day. A juvenile Golden Eagle
flew slowly by at 2:10pm with a big crop giving super looks. All raptors
today flew southward down the east side of the mountain, with a few flying
directly overhead (none to the west). Some of the Red-tails would take
forever to finally fly southward!
Non-raptor Observations:
A hot-air balloon to the east welcomed me when I arrived at 8:30am.
