Hello birders,
An update the on the Gray Kingbird this afternoon in Northampton County.
Fenton Day and I located the bird at approximately 2:45pm about half way
down Magotha Rd. Precisely at the intersection of Harmony Rd. and Magotha
Rd. It was using the wires along the road and often in the company of
Eastern Bluebirds and Yellow-rumped Warblers. We observed the bird
successfully catching small white moths from the field edges. At one point
we thought the bird was going to leave us... we watched it rise high into
the sky and circle randomly for a minute or two (as if orienting itself)...
but it then returned to its same position on the wire.

Several birders joined us as we watched the bird and it was still present
when we left a little after 4pm. If you do visit the bird be respectful of
your distance from the bird. In addition, be respectful of the residents
that live and use Magotha Rd. They are use to lots of birders (this is the
Eurasian Collared-Dove rd) which is a good and bad thing.
Also, earlier at Kiptopeke SP we enjoyed numerous Cave Swallows, both at
Taylor's Pond and the hawkwatch platform.
