Gentle Readers - The Friends of Huntley Meadows would like to remind
subscribers that tomorrow, August 28 is the 100th anniversary of the birth of
Roger Tory Peterson. Most older birders started off using the Peterson Field
Guide. This man opened our eyes to the wonder of birds, their habitats, and
the magic of their contributions to our world. Over the years, I, like many of
you, have accumulated many field guides, but I still carry my ratty,
waterlogged (a dunk in the Potomac some years ago) and marked up Petersons.
Even though he died in 1996, Roger Tory Peterson still teaches us through this
wonderful book.
