Our computer had a prehistoric date so I am not sure if our message got
through! We were with friends at Broadkill, Delaware over
Thanksgiving. Every morning we went to the two big ponds that abut the
road leading to Broadkill at 9:30 A.M. The Snow Geese began to arrive,
one winged group at a time, until the pond was filled. The sound is
deafening and incredible. They come by the thousands! We take so many
photos! We do this every year!
We did see 3 Ross's geese over a period of three days mixed in with
this huge flock. There were many "blue-phase" and juveniles but there
was no doubt about the Ross's. We go every year because we know that
the geese will be there, it has never failed.
The "official" bird count people estimated this flock at 18,000 geese!
