Dear VA birders,
Today, I went in search of the Rufous Hummingbird at Green Spring Gardens.
Despite the rain, I had nice looks. I found a handful of common passerines and
a Red-shouldered Hawk while I was there. After lunch the rain cleared up and I
went to Dyke Marsh. Many of the birds were singing and foraging, so there was
a lot of activity. I have included my list below. On the way home, I went by
Prince William County Landfill to check out the gulls. I found a lot of
Ring-billed Gulls and Herring Gulls, one Great Black-backed Gull and one Lesser
Black-backed Gull. I also found 5 Bald Eagles and the expected scavengers:
American & Fish Crow, European Starlings and Rock Pigeons. Not bad for a rainy
day!
Good birding!
