On a drive home from DC to NC this morning, I made a little jaunt off of 29
to check out the Wilson's Phalarope in Stuarts Draft. The bird was still
there, actively foraging on the near shore of the pond. Also present were
three Semipalmated Plovers, three Killdeer, three Least Sandpipers, one
Semipalmated Sandpiper, and a Solitary Sandpiper living up to his name,
hanging out alone on the far bank. Nice break from the drive and the
closest look I've ever had at a Wilson's Phalarope!
