My wife, toddler and I also birded Lake Accotink Park today from 11am - 3pm.
We avoided the hectic lake area and slowly strolled down the creek trail which
goes south from the Lake.
We had some great birds considering it was mid-day. We didn't see any Common
Yellowthroats, but otherwise our list was the same as Harry's with the addition
of:
Scarlet Tanager
Louisiana Waterthrushes - a pair of them (a breeding pair?) in one spot, a
single one further down the trail
A beautiful Yellow-throated Vireo
Great-crested Flycatcher
Acadian Flycatchers (at least 4-5 were doing their call)
This was our first time at Lake Accotink and were amazed at how nice the creek
trail was. Can't wait to get back there during Fall migration!
