A gorgeous morning filled with sound when I walked out this morning. A Gray
Catbird was a new arrival since yesterday. I'm hoping it will attract a
mate and remain throughout the summer. The pleasant surprise was the
stunning adult male SCARLET TANAGER singing from top of oak tree in the
early morning light. All too soon it departed. Straight off the back deck
I saw the likely culprit - a COOPER'S HAWK perched in the crutch of
neighbor's oak tree. Taking to air, the scores of Blue Jay took to the air,
sounding the alarm.
