Is it spring or is it summer? Based on today's temperature's I'd say summer.
This has been a very interesting week with many FOS and perhaps some LOS and
as always some birds that show up in unexpected places. Anyway, spring
migration is picking up and warblers are seen everywhere. Those wood
warblers are so beautiful in their fresh feathers. Today's highlights were
Blue-winged, Black-throated Blue and Chestnut-sided warbler. To my surprise
several typical winter birds are still around, including White-throated
Sparrow, Pine Siskins and Purple Finches. They too are vividly colored.
Overall it was a great week and the highlights were:

Mitigation Project)

Purple Martin                                    (Dulles Greenway Wetlands

Purple Finch                                       (home-on Saturday)

White Throated Sparrow              (just about everywhere were I went
birding)

LOST

Osprey in downtown Leesburg

eBird News for those birding in Northern VA.

The backside of Huntley Meadows, aka the hike and bike trail is now an eBird
hotspot :

Name: Huntley Meadows Park--Hike and Bike Trail

Distance: 1.2 mi one-way, 2.4 mi both ways if you walk the trail.

Monticello Park in Alexandria;

A well know hotspot. It is very small in size; 6 acres. So please use area
count for this hotspot. Most of us typically scout the entire area anyway.
