Late this afternoon Andrew Baldelli and I were driving roads in the Pungo
area of Virginia Beach and birding the the still flooded fields hoping for
something good in the groups of shorebirds. We had just passed the corner
of Muddy Creek and Gum Bridge Rd when out my window I spotted a flight
profile that stumped me for a moment as it flew by and then behind us. It
landed back at the corner behind the gate, and took few moments to find.
It was a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher in full breeding plumage and long
trailing black and white tail. We had plenty of great views, took some
digiscoped pics and were able to share with MC Miguez, Rob Bielawski and
his wife Ruth. An incredible life bird for me! See link for the checklist
