Reporting a pair of Cliff Swallows observed flying from the Roosevelt Island
entrance footbridge at roughly 4:30 pm to 5:15 pm. After 5:15 pm, they either
were huddled up under the footbridge or they were further down the river closer
to Memorial Bridge — hard to tell as the lighting was not ideal for identifying
them at a distance and other Bank Swallows/Rough-winged Swallows began entering
into the area.
As a side— I believe these may be a returning pair as last summer, on another
visit to Roosevelt Island, I bumped into another visitor birder (I believe from
North Carolina) that told me that she had viewed Cliff Swallows at the same
location and had reported them.
