Hello all
This morning I went up to New Hope to check on the Dickcissel's to see if
there was any signs of nesting . While there at the nice pull off ( red gate
) I started to scan the fields . With the singing Dickcissel's around me I
kept hearing one that sounded a little different in song . After seeing a
small bird fly up & dropping right back down & then it hit me ( or I just
woke up ) that the song was a Sedge Wren . In this field just past Rt. 605
Mt . Horeb Rd. & Rt. 608 heading north the field is on your left there are
at least 2 birds . If going go to the red gate & park the wrens are near
the snag top trees up to the next set of trees in the field just to the left
of the far clump of trees . That is where I had one of the birds fly up .
Also at Quillens pond the first pond is drying up now & leaving some mud
flats . Here I had at least 4 Killdeer , 1 Spotted Sandpiper , 1 imm.
Solitary & at least 8 Green Heron .
All in all not a bad day of birding around Aug. Co.
