Yesterday was a good day for migratory shorebirds near Crozet, just west of
Charlottesville.
Marshall Faintich reported Semipalmated Plovers and Semipalmated Sandpipers at
Lickinghole Creek Pond. Also the more common Killdeer and Spotted Sandpipers.
I was able to get there within a few hours of his visit, and confirmed both of
the unusual species. For a shorebird biologist, it was a real treat.
