Went over to Ft.Smith park in Arlington this afternoon to see if I
could find the Pine Siskin reported there this morning. I got there
about 3 p.m. and the bird showed up at about 3:15 for about 10
minutes. It was not easy to ID. It was brown and streaked for sure,
but there was no visible yellow on either the wings or the tail. I
could not see the tail fork very well. But, the beak was clearly
smaller and thinner than the finches at the same feeder. It also
showed different behavior. It seemed very calm, and stayed on the same
perch at the thistle feeder the entire time, while the other birds
were flying back and forth. I feel confident it was a Siskin. Now,
if ONLY a Evening or Pine grosbeak would get down this far . . .
