Weather:
Finally! A cold front and some west wind. Morning started with stiff steady
15 k wind with gusts to 22. Wind abated somewhat at midday and sank to 3 k
by quitting time. Big puffy clouds made spotting speck Sharpies easy until
early afternoon when the cumulus dissipated and left us with high blue sky
as a layer of high clouds began to build in the west. Temps: 12-15 C.
Raptor Observations:
As the winds abated, so did the flow of Sharpies. Bald Eagle convention
today with lots of adult birds. Kestrels flew just above tree tops and
still got upended by the wind, while the Sharpies proved steadier in the
wind.
Non-raptor Observations:
Monarchs 37, Tree Swallows 19, 1 male Purple Finch posed on the snag.
