Hello birders,
I checked 4 small bodies of water in western Fairfax County today (and a bit of
Loudoun), checking for possible storm fallout. The only suspect was a Great
Egret, somewhat uncommon around there.
The Egret was at Pleasant Valley Golf Course, pond closest to P.V. Road. The
other locations were the Occoquan Sewage pond ("UOSA") in Centreville; the
South Riding Golf Course pond on Braddock; and the South Riding Pond on
Middlesex Drive.
I recommended (to the local hotspot reviewer) that the latter pond (on
Middlesex) become a hotspot. At least a dozen birders have submitted eBird
reports there.
