Tom and I went over to Stumpy Lake for about an hour this morning. I honestly
think that every Yellow Rumped Warbler in Virginia Beach went to the lake
this morning. I have never seen so many feeding on the bugs. Their singing
was almost deafening! They do look pretty in their breeding plumage. Perhaps
other warblers were around but it really was hard to see them through all the
YR. A couple of Prothonotary's sang and made themselves visable. :-) The Tree
Swallow were doing their "feather thing" making nests. The Barn Swallows are
back nesting near the club house. Caught quick glimpses of a Wood Duck
(female) and Green Wing Teal. Plenty of DC Cormorants but didn't see
Anhinga's. Kind of a so so outing for this time of year. I plan to explore
Red Wing Park, Dam Neck Navy Base, Owls Creek and Great Neck Park tomorrow.
Is anyone seeing anything at Oak Grove Park in Chesapeake?
