Friday and Saturday I drove to the location just south of Lexington
(here:http://bit.ly/RafOMX ;) where reports have been coming in about
Swallow-tailed Kites. I wasn't able to leave Charlottesville on Friday until
around4:50, and did not see the kites that afternoon. I did find a family of
kingfishers, which was fun.
Then Saturday I returned, arriving at 11:40 am, and immediately saw a kite,
soaring south of the road. I remained half an hour and on several occasions
could see 4 kites simultaneously. 3 other groups of birders arrived while I was
there and everyone got a marvelous show!
