Coastal Virginia Wildlife Observatory will participate in the Big Sit for
the 11th straight year, at the observation platform at Kiptopeke, on October
11, 2009. The event, sponsored by the New Haven, Connecticut Bird Club,
Bird Watcher's Digest and Swarovski Optik, is a survey that records all birds
seen from stationary circles across North America and even parts of
Europe. Our circle has placed as high as 3rd nationally because of the great
view
which includes forest, fields and Chesapeake Bay.
Everyone is invited...stay for an hour or stay for the whole day...the more
people looking, the better! There is no fee.... but there will be a few
prizes!
