I went to Occoquan NWR early this morning and walked the loop from the
parking lot, along the river and back to the parking lot via Easy Road.
There was a lot of activity, especially singing, but I mostly did not see
the birds, and when I did the light was so bad I couldn't tell what I was
seeing. It was an ear birder's morning.The river was right up to the road's
edge and there was a lot of debris in the water and on the roadway along
side it. It's going to be a job to clean up.
Anyway, I posted a couple of pictures of Canada Geese and goslings trying to
make their way through the clutter.

I also had a couple of Wild Turkeys walking up Easy Road (well, hurrying) in
front of me. They kept ducking off to the right, then returning to the
roadway before finally disappearing. When I got up to teh area, I could see
their problem. They'd turn off, only to find deep water. It took them about
five tries before finding a "dry" path.

The best sight was when I got back to the parking lot and saw an Osprey with
breakfast.
