... Common Mergansers had arrived, on Occoquan Bay (FRFX/PRWM Cos);
apparently FOS arrival in Virginia waters. One was across from Belmont Bay
marina but when I went to Mason Neck SP after lunch there was a group of 9
in deep water. Also, nearly 5000 ducks with reasonably good diversity: Top
numbers were Gadwall, Lesser Scaup and Ruddy Duck. Also, American Wigeon,
Mallard, No. Shoveler, Canvasback, Redhead, Ring-necked Duck, and
Bufflehead. Plus Pied-billed and Horned Grebe.
