I went over to Tysons Corner tonight, arriving about 9:10. There were 4-6
Common Nighthawks flying very high above the tower buildings. Not the best
views or sighting. However, it is early in the season and I feel sure that
later in the week or next week for sure there will be many more birds and a
better viewing experience. STAY TUNED! Not to be disappointed, I found,
shining between the two tower buildings, the planet Jupiter. When I got it
in the scope, I was blessed with a sparkling view of the planet, was able to
see both of the broad bands across the surface, and all four moons. So, if
you go to see the nighthawks, do bring your scope and have a look at this
spectacular astronomical treat.
