Thank you for sharing! If I may add to that observation, we've had a pair
of ravens nest in Purcellville (Loudoun County) for at least the past 3-4
yrs (I'd have to double-check with a friend who keeps tabs on them). They
nest on the water tower right across the road from Loudoun Valley High
School. A quick Google search informed me that Purcellville is at 574'
elevation. They were doing some construction on the water tower this past
year, I believe, but I think the ravens still managed to nest on the
temporary tower they erected. The town/county has been very accommodating
when it comes to not disturbing these birds.

There is a pair of Common Ravens nesting in Warren County, .8 of a mile
south of the Warren county fairgrounds along rt 520 on the west side of the
road in the southern most of two large dilapidated silos. They have been
building the nest for about a month, frequently carrying large sticks to

Reliance road near the cemetery that are showing nesting behavior, but we

Ravens have become increasing more frequent in the northern Shenandoah
Valley at low elevations. They are frequent now even flying over town areas
including Winchester, Stephens City and Front Royal and may occur at any
season. This is the first low elevation nesting in our area that we are
aware of.
