Hi,
Recently I found a tree with nesting Barred Owls destroyed by the strong
windstorm in February in northern Virginia. The owls successfully nested
before in the same cavity. The exact location will not be disclosed (but
that's a moot point now). You can see more information and pictures on my

(All pictures, except those of the fallen tree, were taken with a telephoto
lens from a respectable distance, and I generally don't stay near the nest
for long to minimize disturbance.)
