The Kiptopeke Challenge is almost here!  This annual one-day bird-a-thon isÂ
Saturday, September 26, 2020. Adults and Youth groups are encouraged to
participate to support the important work of the Coastal Virginia Wildlife
Observatory (CVWO).
Â
VSO supports CVWO annually and has budgeted $250 for CVWO for the 2020
Kiptopeke Challenge.
Â
The VSO Challenge:Â the $250 will be donated to CVWO on behalf of the "Youth
Team" (18 years and younger) that identifies the most bird species east I-95 in
Virginia. *Note the money goes to CVWO, not the birding team.*
Â
The $250 will increase the chance that the youth team will win not only the
Buff-breasted Sandpiper Award (for the youth team with the most species) but
also the Piping Plover Award (for the team that raises the most money for CVWO).
Â
Reach out to your bird clubs and young friends and tell them about this
opportunity!
Â
Young birders should contact Kiptopeke Challenge Coordinator David Youker to
sign up.
Â
[Note that Covid-19 guidelines must be followed, and teams of a single birder
are allowed. See the Kiptopeke Challenge website for all details!]
