Thanks to everyone who responded to my post about the Royal Tern on our dock.
My pleasure in reporting this essentially unknown and insignificant little bird
was greatly increased by the speedy responses I received. Now I know the bird
is two years old and was hatched on the South Island of the Bay Bridge Tunnel -
one of the islands due for demolition. We must keep watching to make sure a new
nesting site is built!
