Greetings to all:
Had a great time at Chincoteague NWR with the VSO this weekend and enjoyed
seeing and meeting new friends. Great birds everywhere including the Lark
Sparrow and Wilson's Warbler along with the Bar-tailed Godwit.
On Thursday, I drove up to Bombay Hook NWR in Delaware and birded there for
several hours. It was my first time there and plan to go back when I can.
On the way back to Chincoteague, I stopped off in Maryland and birded at a
public peer for over an hour and then got back to Chincoteague to put in
three more hours of birding thus birding in all three state of the Delmarva
peninsula in one day.
I stopped off at Willis Warf on the return trip home and saw a Whimbrel for
a brief flight before it disappeared. I then stopped at hawk watch in
Kiptopeke State Park hoping to see a Peregrine Falcon but missed one by ten
minutes.
Just west of South Hill I saw a Great Horned Owl a top of a bale of hay and
was able to get several pictures of it.
If you didn't make it to this year's meeting you must go next year.
