The Northern Virginia Teen Bird CLub had their first field trip of the year
this afternoon setting up mist nets for our fall banding on the campus of Flint
Hill School. We banded a young house wren and a handsome male yellowthroat. The
most exciting non-banded bird was a Peregrine that flew over the campus towards
the west. I think this is only my second sighting at this location. The first
was April 3, 2009 when I saw one fly over the campus with a radiotransmitter
antenna on its back while I watched a lacrosse game.
All the best
