Unless I am mistaken, Mill Race Road (612) has Berryman Lane on it?
Also many Bluebird boxes of mine which currently hold Bluebirds,
Carolina Chickadee, and a couple of House Sparrows. Another good walk
in Aldie which I haven't done enough is to walk behind the firehouse
along the little river - there are some tremendous and cool hemlocks to
your left, cross a stream and talk a left on trail which leads to the
top of Bull Run Mountain and a carriage road that runs down it to 66.
There used to be a Potomac Trail guide to this area but it was
surpressed due to landowner suits. Loudoun ought to get easements along
the banks of the Little River as it would be a fine place to have a
birding trail.
Be that as it may, aside from the Blue Ridge center do you have anyone
else doing stuff in western Loudoun. My boxes and so on, checked
yesterday probably won't take through much more than noon and I would
wander around some there it it were to be of interest.

Subject: [Va-bird] Bird Walks and Count in Loudoun Co, May 10
The Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy is sponsoring 9 walks and a bird count
for International Migratory Bird Day. While some of these spots are
frequently birded, others are rarely visited.
One of the walks is scheduled for 8 am tomorrow, Sat. May 3, at the ANS
Rust Nature Sanctuary on the western edge of Leesburg. It will be led
by Cliff Fairweather. Directions can be found at

All the other walks are on Sat., May 10 and start at 8 am unless
otherwise noted. Most will last approx 2 to 3 hours.
- Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve, led by Larry Meade, in central Loudoun.
- Bles Park, led by Mike Friedman, in eastern Loudoun.
- Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship, led by Gerry Hawkins
& Joe Coleman, in northwestern Loudoun.
- Dulles Greenway Wetlands Mitigation Project, led by Bruce Hill & Cheri
Schneck, in central Loudoun.
- Horsepen Preserve, led by Andy Rabin. Email for directions to the
meeting place.
- Institute Farm & Berryman Lane (Aldie), led by Emily Southgate &
Carole Miller and our first public walk at this location. The Institute
Farm is on the National Register of Historic Landmarks and has approx.
400 acres of scrub and meadow that is primarily used for training
beagles.
- Morven Park, led by Bruce Hill & Cheri Schneck. This walk will prob.
start later in the morning (about 10:15 am) - email for time &
directions to the meeting place. We bird the forest on the western edge
of the estate and NOT the grounds around the house.
- Phillips Farm, led by John & Bronwen Souders and Dale Ball, adjacent
to Waterford and along the Catoctin and is our first public bird walk at
this location.
Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy is also sponsoring a International
Migratory Bird Day count that day and could use several more birders for

While it isn't necessary to sign-up for most of the walks (directions
are needed for some of the locations) we would appreciate it so we can
give the leaders an idea how many people to expect.
