Hi Lynda,
How do you know it was a raccoon that got into the box?
Is the box on a pole and, if so, does the pole have a baffle on it?
Just curious. Thanks.
Sincerely,
Marlene

Just a warning to let everyone know to check the latches on their Bluebird
boxes. Our box was robbed of its' contents (4 nestlings) in the night last
night. We have a front opening box, with a raccoon guard on the opening,
but
a raccoon managed to open the latch, which was a bit loose. Sadly, when we
got up this morning the front of the box was open and the parents were
calling. Our first spring tragedy and lesson learned. Tighten down those
latches!
Hopefully they'll start a new nest again. We'll leave the box alone for a
few days and then clean it out and make a new raccoon-proof latch to
prevent
this from happening again.
