The Common Moorhen was present at this location around 9 AM this morning (Cinco
de Mayo), along with an American Coot.
There was also a BLUE-WINGED WARBLER feeding in the flowering hollies just a
short distance down the back (Dutch Gap) trail from the visitor center.
BLACKPOLL WARBLERS were singing, and I heard calling ACADIAN FLYCATCHER and
YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO.
All state FOS for me. Even the coot - how embarrassing!

I got a call from Mike Iwanik and Vickie Gullet this afternoon saying
that they had a COMMON MOORHEN at the first marsh observation deck at
Henricus Park in Chesterfield County. Good birding.
