Structurally this bird was rather Thayer's like but the wingtips seem too pale.

I made another tour of these two landfills earlier today in rather muddy and
slippery conditions.
The PW landfill had a 2nd winter Kumlien's Gull - different to the one I saw
almost two weeks ago being darker and better marked and with brown greater
coverts. No other white-winged gulls but there were 4 Lesser Black-backs. No
Laughing Gulls were present. At Fauquier there were c 200 Great Black-backs
(seems a high number for this site) and again 4 Lesser Black-backs of differing
ages.
