identified the hummingbird at Green Spring Gardens as a hatch year female
Rufous. (And thanks, too, to Larry Meade for posting it.) Every question I had
was answered completely. Fortunately, most bird identifications aren't quite
this challenging, but when they are, it's very instructive to learn from an
expert just how it is done.
