Thanks to all here who gave advice to help me get this life bird! Special
thanks to the young couple I met
yesterday at Dutch Gap (I didn't get their names). They were watching the
bittern as I arrived about 11:15.
We watched it catch a fish and it disappeared back into the arrowroot. Although
they spotted in flying at one
point, I was looking in the wrong spot. I stayed for about an hour and
continued to hear its call (I think), but
did not see it again. But I got a great view of this wonderful bird. Great way
to premiere my new binoculars!
Hope I can go back on the long weekend.
