Kurt,
Maybe I should have stuck with you. golden-winged - awesome!
After we parted, I returned to the brushy area by the ruins. A
Philadelphia Vireo and Tennessee Warbler were in the brush and ash tree behind
the field of tick weed at about 10:00. The Philadelphia vireo sang briefly,
soft and a bit sweeter than a Red-eyed.
A Wilson's warbler was also lurking around.

morning. The sun was slow to appear and bird activity was somewhat subdued,
although there were several good flurries of activity. Highlights included
Black-billed Cuckoo, Red-headed Woodpecker, Traill’s Flycatchers (several)
near the cannon at the point, which was the most active area. We had 6
warbler species (Yellow-throated, Common Yellowthroat, Black & White,
Magnolia, Redstart, Blackburnian (only seen by 1 of us)). Traill’s
Flycatchers were seen in several locations and I had a count of no less than
8 for the morning.
Bryan & I spent a short time at Julie Metz Wetland on the way home and added
a few species, the most notable being a Broad-winged Hawk flying overhead
(and alone).
