I have posted a couple of photos of the mystery bird at my website with
the permission of Denise Ryan. The long neck and grayish looking legs
make me think it is a White-morph Reddish Egret, but I can't be sure.
What do others think? I will be looking for the bird this weekend when
I go with the Northern Virginia Bird Club to Chincoteague.

Subject: [Va-bird] Little Egret?
My earlier report about a possible juv. white morph Reddish Egret in
Chincoteague might be a Little Egret with muddy feet. I checked in
with Greg Butcher, Director of Bird Conservation at National Audubon,
and he thought it would be worth sending around to interested folks on
this list.
So, I wanted to encourage others to get out there and take a look at
the actual bird or look at my photos. It will be easier to reach me on
my personal email savetheocean "at" yahoo.com if you want me to send
you a photo.
