Interesting cases of escaped birds today. While working in southeastern
Halifax County today (Tuesday) Steve Roble and I found a Budgerigar sitting
in the middle of a rural road. I approached the bird and it moved towards
me briefly but then took flight and ended up somewhere in the adjacent farm
field.
Sent me for a double take like never before.

Gennette, That's exactly what it is! He's staying in place, vocalizing,
and appears to be feeding. Escapee? Dave

Sounds like a possible Green-cheeked Parakeet (Conure). Does it have a
black/grey beak?

Hi all, We have a parrot or parakeet (Yellow-billed Cukoo size, restless
and noisy) in one of our pine trees. It is green with what looks like a
light tan underside, a reddish long tail, an huge tan or white spectacles.
Not sure if it is an escapee or what. Dave Gibson, Chesapeake
