Hi everyone, I guess the main issue here is that by now, after a decade or so,
almost everyone has heard of ebird, and anyone who wants to find out about what
birds have been seen in their area, or in the state, can manage alerts for
themselves. This way, instead of a daily group email forwarded, everyone would
be able to tailor their interests at the level of county and state so that they
can receive alerts in the areas of specific interest to them. It's very easy to
set up under My Ebird. And of course you don't have to submit checklists in
order to receive the alerts. So I tend to be in favor of reducing clutter on
listserves, as Tom suggests.

My instinct is to contact the poster and ask him to knock it off or, at
least, to edit the posts to eliminate duplicates, etc. Before I do that,
however, I thought I'd poll the list to see how many find value in these
daily posts vs. those who, like me, would prefer they be omitted. Contact
me off line to vote yea or nay and I'll report back to the list in a few
days, no matter which way the vote goes.
